I have been requested to format my Gantt Chart into a Linear Time Line. Is
there a way to have the layout be linear and not stairstepped task by task.
Example: Task 1____Task 2_______Task 3
Not: Task 1
Task 2
Task 3

The closest you will get with Project by itself is to rollup the tasks
to a Summary Line and then view only the Summary gantt bar. It can be
configured to show each subtask in a separate color or style but that
will only work if task durations do not overlap.

As an alternate you might want to check out a Project add-on called
Milestones. I haven't used it in some time but it's worth a look. Go to:
