Gantt Chart's calendar span

I'm the project manager in charge of controlling the refurbishing works of a
building that has a duration of 12 months.

The property wants to have displayed the full project in the Gantt view in a
way that can be seen both in days (in a span of 4 weeks, to have a closer
look of performance of ongoing operations) and in months (for the rest of the
project).

Does anybody know how to do it? Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance,

Joseph A.

Joseph,
Some things Project cannot do, and that is one of them (variable
timescale in a single view). The best you can do is to create two
separate views - one with a timescale that shows front end detail and
the other with a timescale that focuses on the overall schedule. The
only way to display them together is to save each with their respective
timescale settings and then open them both and use Project/Arrange All.

I suggest you create a hardcopy with near term timescale for one and
overall timescale for the other.

You might try to set up 2 seperate views.
1st view would be a 4 Week Look-A-Head. Set a filter up as follows:
Prpject>Filter>More Filters>New - name the view and set up like this:
FIELD NAME TEST VALUES
Start is less than or equal to "And before:"?
% comp is less than 100

When you apply this filter it ask you how far out you want to look at your
project and if a task is 100% it will not show up. By typing a date 4 weeks
from today.....
Now you need to set up a new view: View>Moew views>and Copy (Gant View) The
only change is set the filter to the new one you made. Now apply this view
and Format>Timescale the way you want to see it.
You can format the timescale in the gant chart to months.
It's not really all that hard, give it a try!! Good Luck.
