Get login name from server

B

Ben

Hi there
I am trying to get my frontpage website to display the login name of the
user to be able to display the name as a greeting on my main page like "Good
Morning Bob"
My site is hosted on a Unix server, with the latest fpx.
What I only need is a way to get the username from the server after the user
signs in.
For instance, when I sign in to msn, Yahoo, and others they can greet me by
my name. I want to be able to do the same for my users which is a community
ass.
The users sign in via the password utility found in the control panel of my
website host - which is like the windows dialogue box
Thanks for any suggestions

Do like Yahoo and the others you mention, save the name the user
enters when loggin in, in a cookie, you can then read it from there
when you want to display it on a page.
