I am in Word, and suddenly all my work has dots for spaces and paragraph marks for enter. And there are lines everywhere! What did I do and how do I get rid of it!!

You've switched on the non-printing characters. You can switch them off
again by pressing the pilcrow button (¶)or via Tools > Options. There's a
good reason for them, though: they a lot of formatting tasks much simpler.
