Getpivotdata update issues?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before:

I have a pivottable in one file that accesses a database (call it file A).
I reference this pivottable in a second workbook using the "Getpivotdata"
function (file B). When you re-enter file B and update links, the
getpivotdata function produces zero values, even if the underlying data in
the pivottable has not changed. Even using the update links option does not
cause the values to repopulate. It appears that the pivottable file (file A)
has to be open for the data to appear. This seems erroneous to me, as
normally Excel references another workbook and retains the values as such
until they change or become corrupted (causing a REF error).

Has anyone got any feedback? Any comments or help appreciated...
