Hi,

When i am trying to run the repair option in Office XP. I am encountering
the following error:-

"An error 2602. An internal error has occured (Patch dlgsetp.dll) Contact
your IT departement for assistance"

And the wizard comes out of the repair mode, stating that the repair option
couldn't be completed.

Would appreciate if you could let me know how can resolve this problem.

Warm Regards,

Girish

You receive the "This patch package could not be opened"
error message in an Office program

Hi Carey,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I did not receive the patch package could not
be opened error. I went through the below url. The url refer's about a
previous existing versions of Office. The system on which i am trying to run
this repair option doesn't have a previous version of Office.

To give a brief background about the reason why i am trying to run the
repair option is. I am getting this error "Word cannot find the spelling
file MSSpell3.dll or mssp232.dll for." when i run a spell check on Microsoft
Word. I was trying to solve this error by running the Office XP repair
option. I would appreciate if you could let me know if this error can be
sorted out without uninstalling or reinstalling Office.

Awaiting your reply.

Warm Regards,

Girish

You might get the quoted error message if your text is formatted
as a language for which you do not have proofing tools installed.
Try this: Open a document where this problem occurs, press
Ctrl+A to select all of the text, click on Tools | Language | Set
Language | <choose your language> | uncheck the "Detect language
automatically" and "Do not check spelling or grammar" boxes |
Default | OK. Then press F7 to rerun spelling and grammar
checks, and save the document.

This change will affect the current document and all new
documents you create from this point forward. You will have to
make this change individually in your existing documents.

Hi Garfield

Thanks for your reply. As about your option of unchecking the"Do not check
spelling or grammar"
box is concerned. Would it not defeat the purpose of spell check.

Secondly there are more than 500 existing word documents. Carrying out the
below steps on all these
documents, would be a really big pain.

Is there any other way out of this problem. Would appreciate if you could
help in this regard.

Warm Regards,

Girish

Unchecking "Do not check spelling or grammar" effectively ENABLES
checking of spelling and grammar, so NO, it does not defeat the
purpose of spell check. Do you get the same error message in all
500 existing Word documents? And even if you do, does it really
matter, since they are existing documents that are probably
already completed and will not need spellchecking again?
