version 2002 - Somehow the "mergefield fieldname" is printing on my
documents, instead of the values, when I try to merge them in to the letter.
How do I turn this off?

You use Alt+F9 to toggle off the display of field codes. If you are
actually executing the merge however, it should not make any difference if
the field codes are displayed or not.

Doug,
Thanks for the info, which works for the screen display (toggling on/off)
but when I print it still prints the {MERGEFIELD "FIELDNAME"} in place of
the values that should print off. Any other suggestions would be
appreciated. Thanks again.

Once again, I have to reiterate that if the field codes are being printed,
you have NOT executed the mailmerge, but are printing a preview of the
merge. If you wish to persist in producing hard copies in this manner, from
the Tools menu, select Options and then go to the Print tab and uncheck the
box against Field codes in the Include with document section of the dialog.

Doug,

Thank you -- this solved the problem. I am a novice to mail merge (this is
only my second time using it) so I'm a little slow on understanding the
different features in it.

I do appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me again. (That I
wasn't in the mailmerge processing at the time of printing this off.) I
didn't realize that I had to do the actual merge to get the values. I
thought that if I had one record in there to test with that it would work.

Karma
