Hello!

Does anyone know how to successfully create/open a gif file in powerpoint?
Are they supported in ppt?

You can't create animated gifs in PowerPoint but you can show them in
PowerPoint 2000 and newer. Click "Insert", "Picture", "From file", browse
to and select your animated GIF file. Go into Slide Show mode to see it in
action!

I have tried this, but it still does not seem to work. I have a gif file in
my documents, i tried 'inserting' it into the presentation but it will not
play. I then tried hyperlinking some text to it but again, it will not play.
Any ideas?!

What version of PowerPoint do you have? Are you in Slide Show Mode when you
are viewing it? Sorry to ask basic questions, but I like to make sure it is
plugged in before I open the case and look inside! HA!

doesnt move. However, when i view it from the email it was sent to me from
it is fine.

Not sure why it isn't working. One thing you might want to check is to
right-click the image in your e-mail and click "save as'. See what file
type is listed. I'm not sure but it could be some sort of HTML file format
and not an animated gif.

Sorry, but this is sort of out of my normal uses. If you want, feel free to
send me the image and I will take a look to see if I can figure anything
out. You can send me a message to:

It's a bug in PPT 2003, Liz. You're not doing anything wrong.

See http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/animated_gifs/gifs.htm
for info. Follow the instrux there to correct it.
