Dear experienced ones,
I am running Office 97 on XP. I have just installed Service Pack 2 and
am now experiencing problems with trying to insert Clipart into Word.
I get a message saying the GIF filters are missing. When I try to
uninstall the filters with the intention of re-installing them to see
if this fixes the issue, I get a 16 bit error message saying a *.NT
(can't remember the full file name) can't be found and I receive an
option to close or ignore - both of which just close. I searched the C
drive and found the .NT file sitting in a repair folder, copied to the
System 32 folder and was then able to start the uninstall process. But
it didn't take anything out!.
Can I uninstall SP2 (strong desire)? Do I need to re-format my PC and
start from scratch (not desirable)? Or can anyone assist where they
have had a similar experience and solved the problem, please? I can't
upgrade from Office 97 at the moment as I streamline a lot of office
procedures using macros and VBA (although I am really only a beginner
with these) but the whole office is still dependent on 97 and I'm
concerned if I upgrade I will use incompatible features.
TIA.
