Give Access Only to the WorkSpace: how to show the project detailsweb part

Hi All,

I want give access to my WorkSpace (after publishing the project) to
some project stakeholders....

If I look a the permission, I can give them permission only in the
workspace, but not in the project server.... but how they will be able
to see the gantt chart in a web part that I have inserted in the home
page of the workspace???

just some thought:

- adding users to project server (in server setting), I add the same
users to the project server sharepoint site....
- removing the users from sharepoint (under site action - > site
setting), I have noticed that the users are still in pwa (under server
settings -> manage user)

what does it mean???? it means that the users don't have the
permission to access the sharepoint site (that host pwa), but the
users can see project data from other applications??? (in my case via
webpart in a susite if I give him permission on the subsite????)

thanks all

For future reference, this really belongs in the
microsoft.public.project.server group.

They'll not be able to use any PWA web parts to view Project Server data
if they do not have permission to Project Server.

Please do not fiddle with the SharePoint user permissions in PWA...
users need to be in the SharePoint site in order to access the PSI
(which the gantt web part does), because Project Server security is
merely an extension of sharepoint security. For more information, please
review http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms422445.aspx.

The best way to preclude them from seeing anything in PWA is to use PS'
security... so you could theoretically create a security group and
category that would give them access to the workspaces of a subset of
projects (the precise mechanism of how this would work would depend on
the configuration of said group and category) but would preclude them
from viewing any data in PWA.

However, if you are not familiar with Project Server security, you will
likely find this task to be somewhat challenging.

Perhaps I misunderstand the question, but I'm fairly sure that if you want
someone to see project data from PWA (e.g.: the Gantt chart for the project)
this person needs a CAL (Client Access License) for PWA.
As this is a requirement that needs to be fulfilled, why not then simply add
this person to the system as a user (with the appropriate security settings
managed within PWA) and then add this person to your project? You don't have
to assign the person to a task if you do not want to.
