Grammar Settings not working (Word 2002)

Using Word 2002 (10.5522.4219) SP-2

Under Tools > Options > Spelling & Grammar > Grammar
Settings, the first 3 drop-down borxes do not let me
select the first choice for:

Comma required before last list item
Punctuation required with quotes
Spaces required between spaces

I can select the 2nd and 3rd choices in the drop-down
boxes, just not the first.
