Graphing Feature Not Installed

When I am working in Powerpoint, I get a message
that "Microsoft Graphing Feature" is not installed. It
begins what looks like an installation and finally gives
me a message that the "server is busy" and asks if I want
to "retry". It never asks for my cd. Any idea what's
happening?
