Graphs

Is there a way to graph three items side by side, but to
have the middle bar to contain two components? For
example, I want one bar to show budget, the next bar that
is right beside it to be actuals to date with the
remaining year's forecast on top of the actuals, and then
have the next year's budget next to that?

Jerry,

One way is to fake it, which I do because it is easier to think about <g>.
You could do up your graph with zero data in the middle, then draw the data
in with two autoshapes?

Hi Jerry,

Well, this isn't a PowerPoint question but it's an easy answer so.....

This is completely doable.

Simply used a "Stacked Column" chart type and in your datasheet the values
(first 3 rows and 4 columns)would look something like:

Row 0: [Empty]; <FirstColumnLabel>; <2ndColumnLabel>; <3rdColumnLabel>
Row 1: [Empty]; <$Budget>; <$ToDate>; <$NextYearBudget>
Row 2: [Empty]: [Empty]; <$RemainingForecast>; [Empty]

Then for the chart formatting:

1) Remove the legend (so the empty text entries in 1st column don't appear)
2) Use the "Format Data Series" command to change Gap Width to 0% in the
Options tab of the dialog.
