Grayed out Tab in Excel

K

Kathy Z

Why would the "Illustrations" tab on my Excel spreadsheet be grayed out so I
can't choose to "Insert Clipart" or copy it into a cell? It's fine on new
spreadsheets, but this one in particular, created prior to Excel 2007, won't
work. I've removed password protection from the sheet and the workbook.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Kathy,

You may have something on the "Illustrations" tab that isn't backward
compatible in version prior to 2007.

You can test this out in Excel 2007 by saving (SaveAs) the file to a
Excel 2003 format (or whichever you're running into the issue with)
Excel will let you know if there is functionality that isn't compatibl
with the version you're saving to as well as list the items that aren'
compatible in the "Compatibility Checker" dialog box. This should hel
you track the source of the issue down.

One solution from there would be to download a Excel 2007 fil
converter (From Microsoft, just go to Excel Help menu and type "fil
conversion") to your PC's running the older versions of Excel. This ma
allow you to access your data on the "Illustrations" tab.

Best of Luck,

Dan

Is the workbook "shared"?

If it is, insert clipart will be unavailable.
