Groove b2tr - GrooveOOM.dll

Chantal

We're up and running the Groove beta2tr alongside the entire Office beta2tr,
I have several users who get the following alert every time they open
Outlook" the add-in "redemption helper outlook extension"
(C:\ProgramFiles\GrooveNetworks\Groove\Bin\GrooveOOM.dll) cannot be loaded
and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in manufacturer for
an update. If no update is available, please uninstall the Add-in."

What does this mean? Why are we only getting it for a few users? Isn't MSFT
the add-in manufacturer. They are not running IE7? Any guidance and advice
on next steps would be much appreciated.

Hi Chantal -

Back in 2005, Groove Networks used a third-party library
(http://www.dimastr.com/redemption/) to provide some of the code
underlying the connection between Groove 3.1 and Outlook. This program
code is the GrooveOOM.DLL file.

If your users upgraded Groove 2007 without removing Groove 3.1 first,
this file will still be present, and Outlook 2007 will complain that it
is incompatible. I believe the third-party guys have upgraded their
library to support Outlook 2007 but it is unlikely that Microsoft will
issue a patch for Grove 3.1 this late in the day.

Next steps? Given Groove 2007 no longer supports a direct link with
Outlook, you should just disable the Groove add-in in Outlook.

Hope this helps.

Mark, I really appreciate your help -- especially as managing Groove is new
to my responsibilities, so apologies ahead of time if my questions/issues are
101.

In Outlook, I did go to help - privacy options - add-ins --> and the Office
Groove Proxy add-in, was not activated or enabled, that is to say was
unchecked. I also uninstalled this entirely. Neither provided success and the
user still receives the error message.

Am I missing something or executing a rookie error?
Chantal.

Hi Chantal -

I think this is more an Outlook problem than a Groove one ("how does
Outlook 2007 handle non-conforming add-ins?"),so my knowledge is limited
at best.

What happens if you rename the DLL?
