Hanging application error message

If I'm connected to the internet, I cannot open Publisher 2003 (or any other
program for that matter)...the screen freezes. Update for Office 2003
(KB907417) and SP1 and SP2 are installed. And if by some fluke I do get it to
open, I can no longer copy and paste info from websites as I have in the
past. I had been opening the blank page first before connecting and that
helped. But after installing a Windows update the page will come up, but I'm
unable to copy and paste. Help would be appreciated.

Empty your temporary cache, in Internet Explorer, tools, Internet Options, delete
files.
