have office 2000 but new pc is xp how can i install?

i have office 2000 but i have new pc which has windows xp and when trying to
install office 2000 i keep getting errors. can i install this or do i need to
buy new package and if so is there a cheap version for people at home using
for college use?

Office 2000 should install perfectly well on XP. Please post the exact
errors you are getting.

error 1305 error reading from file
d:\pfiles\common\msshared\websrvex\40\bin\fp4anwi.dll verify that the file
exists and that you can access it.

Examine the Office 2000 CD and make sure it is absolutely "pristine clean"
with no scratches, fingerprints or smudges. Use a mild non-ammonia based
household cleaning solution and a soft cloth to clean it.

I have found a scratch on disk which could be causing problem.

Sorry to have caused you any trouble i will just need to get new version.

before shelling out for new Office copy, try one of the many disk repair
sets avaliable at ------Mart or Office------- or where ever you buy things.
Even some of the video rental stores offer disk repair as a service. Not a
big expense if it doesn't work, and a big savings if it does.
