Having information in the doc changedepending on answers to drop down question

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I'm trying to create a permission slip for my school program. Presently I have drop down boxes where schools can select there name for the list. I want to have a box with travel directions change depending on what choice they choose from the drop down box. I looked around on the internet for help but got stuck at macros in the tool bar.
If you could send my some advise on how to proceed I would really appreciate it. I think my biggest road block is know the lingo. I'm sure there is a term for what I'm trying to do, but don't know what it is, and therefore can't search for help.
Thanks

You need macros, and Word 2008 doesn't have any, so you can't do this.

Sorry.

The closest you can come is to insert a drop-down box in the document, as
you have done. That will allow users to select choices. The drop-down will
populate a bookmark.

You can insert a Formula field elsewhere in the document that can select the
result it displays based on the content of the bookmark populated by the
drop-down box. You can look up Microsoft Word Formula Fields on the
Internet: fields were left out of the Word 2008 help.

You still need to remind the users to "Update Fields" to see the change, and
most users don't understand how to do that.

Sorry again...
