Header & Footers

Header & Footers

I am using Office 2007 and I have created a Letterhead document. If the
person who is typing a letter and it is more than one page, both the header
and footer carry over to the next page. I would like to only have the footer
follow through after page one and I am not able to find out how to do that.
Please let me know how that can be done.

Thank you.

There are at least two ways to do this. One would be to insert a section
break after page 1, and to turn off Same as Previous for headings in section
2.

Another way--and perhaps simpler--is to enable the Different First Page
option. This will take care of the header issue--Word usually assumes that
you want nothing on page 1's header, and something thereafter. It's a simple
matter to copy the header onto page 1 and delete it from page 2--and the
Different First Page option means that Word will honor what you're doing,
and not change it.

You then copy the footer from page 2 and paste it into the 1st page footer
(or vice versa... depending on what Word assumes when you enable the
Different First Page option.
