header on all but 1st page

Hi,
I have WinXP with Microsoft Word and am trying to figure out how to place a
header of type "smith 1", "smith 2", etc... on all pages EXCEPT page 1. How
do I do that?

This is the PowerPoint newsgroup, so you might get more expert advice in the
Word newsgroup. However, the way I would do it is to go to File > Page Layout >
Layout tab and set the Headers and footers to be "Different first page" and then
blank out the fields as you wish.
