Headers will no longer convert to PDF format

That did it. Yes, the headers are there and did convert. But neither
Acrobat or PDF Create! is there in safe mode. They still show as active
add-ins but aren't available.

That's to be expected: Safe Mode starts Word in its default install
condition bypassing customisations, add-ins, templates, macros, etc. This
suggests that you have an incompatible add-in that is messing with the
headers. I suggest that you disable all the add-ins and any macros that you
find installed and test by elimination until you can find the culprit. I
wouldn't be surprised if it isn't the Acrobat add-in that is the joker.

I have exactly 3 addins that I use with Word. They are:

1. Adobe Acrobat
2. ScanSoft PDF Create! 3
3. Dragon Naturally Speaking 9

All of them have always worked before. I took all three out. I put them
back in one by one and in various combinations. Still no headers in Print
Preview or when converted.

Is there something that blocks these or what?

I appreciate you trying to help me but again let me say that absolutely
NOTHING has changed in my system, addins, or peripherals since all of this
worked perfectly. None of the document settings were changed either. The
margins are, and have alwasy been, .5 all the way around. The ONLY thing
that has changed was I ran a repair cycle on Office 2007 because it
constantly kept trying to run setup whenever I saved a file. As soon as I
did that Acrobat started hanging up so I ran a repair cycle on it.

I tried your steps in
http"//word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm but nothing
helped. Maybe this was due to the fact that I don't have any problems
whatsoever starting Word - I have a problem with it showing and converting
headers.

The article is not just about problems starting Word but about how to
troubleshoot the four most common problem areas in Word. The fact that you
are seeing the headers correctly in Safe Mode proves that your problem must
be with the Normal template, the Registry, add-ins, or the printer driver.

OK, thank you. The problem apparently was in the registry but I had to find
the Data file myself as it was not in the path listed in the article. Once I
deleted the file and restarted my headers showed up in Print Preview. I
reloaded the addin for Acrobat and they converted in the document as well.

Many thanks!! I get paid to convert books to pdf format for ebooks and I
was beginning to think I would have to buy new programs!!

Just one more anomaly to put down to a damaged Word Data key. We're seeing a
lot of that lately, largely as a result of updates being applied while Word
was open, apparently.
