Hebrew typing stopped working

Hebrew used to work fine on my computer. But now I have a problem. When I
switch to Hebrew, the keys freeze. When I try to type nothing happens. I know
Hebrew is active because I put on my on-screen keyboard and it shows Hebrew
keyboard. English works fine and even if I caps-lock while in Hebrew mode, I
can type Caps-English. Sometimes if I keep tapping on the key, the Hebrew
letter comes. Or if I type a number first, I can continue in Hebrew. HELP!!

versions of Windows and Word you're using.

I am using word 2003. I have recently downloaded some kind of patch which
allowed me to open a document that was created on word 2007. I do not know if
this is related to my problem. However, it was shortly after this download
that I began experiencing this problem.
