Help: 97 Access Doesn't Install on XP

I'm using XP Pro and trying to use Access 97 by first loading up Office 95
and then an Upgrade to Office 97. Office 95 installs fine but then the
upgrade to 97 yields the following message" The application or DLL
c:\`mssetup.t\~msstfof.t\wmsset32.dll is not a valid windows image. Please
check this against your installation diskette." Then after OK click by me is
"Setup Error 797". The XP Pro is a clean install with nothing else running
and set as admin. I installed 95 & 97 earlier last week on an XP Home
machine with no problems but after it was later converted to XP Pro with an
upgrade to Server 2003 the same problem "797" crops up . I've copied the
extra dll files listed in KB 140900-no luck. I will test the CD on another
install on a 98SE and I'm sure it will be fine. Help. I don't want to bother
with Access 2000.

I would make sure you are logged on to the xp box with full admin rights.

Also, cannot the update for a97 look for the a95 cd...or do you actually
have to install?

I can't remember if is was windows 98, or office..but some upgrades actually
just requite you to insert the older CD..but not actually install the
software.

I never used the "upgrade" for a97.

However, a97 does install and run fine on windows xp....I just never used a
"upgrade" install.

You might try installing the upgrade without actaully installing a95....can
it just look or ask you to insret the older cd?

Also...if anyother versons of office currenlty are installed...I would
install a97 to a differnt dir then the default...

Cleaned CD and it worked fine. I only use A97 but only have an upgrade
version so I need to use A95 to validate A97 install. Thanks for help.
