Help--Courier font lost

L

Larry

Something really strange. I deleted some never-used fonts in the Fonts
folder in order to free up some memory. But afterword, when I started
up my Word 97 with its usual Courier default font, Courier came out on
the screen as Arial bold. It says Courier in the font box, but the
actual font on the document looks like Arial bold. When I go to Print
Preview, the Courier font looks like some blocky non-serif font.

I can still type Courier in WordPad, but if I copy that text from
WordPad into Word it turns into the Arial bold.

There doesn't seem to be a way to undo the deletion of the fonts, which
somehow caused this loss of my Courier. The Courier fonts are still in
the Fonts folder.

Courier is my main font. I use it for drafting documents, and I print
most of my things in it.

I haven't tried re-starting the computer yet.

What should I do?

Thanks,
Larry

Happily, a simple restart fixed the problem.

At first, I didn't want to restart because I thought that might make a
recovery impossible.
