HELP! cut and paste text producing SQL error MSP 2003

Hi everyone - Hope you can help me quick...

I am using MS PRoject server 2003 and the PM's are getting this error:
"[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot insert duplicate key
row in object 'MSP_TASKS' with unique index 'I_MSP_TASKS'.


My reserach shows that this is associated with copying and pasting; however,
the PM's are not copyiing entire rows (and I get how copying calculations can
mess things up) rather they are highlighting the task name and right click
copy, go to the row to paste to and right click insert. I cannot understand
why this should present a problem for the tool? a simply text cut and paste?
Or perhaps I'm misinformed on this? any help is appreciated.

Kathleen:

Copying by the cell should not cause this, at least I've never seen it
happen. It would then indicate that perhaps some of your PMs are not being
as careful about this as you think. In any case, once you have this problem
with a plan on the server, the solution has been posted many, many times.
Save the project to your local drive, delete the project from the server and
then import it back to the server.

Hi Gary - yes I suspect as you indicate that there may be more going on then
I am being told; however, the issue is being escalated and I much appreciate
your affirmation.
