Help me determine if I should purchase Publisher

L

LongbowMeghan

Our firm is currently running the 30 day trial on microsoft publisher and is
attempting to determine if it will benefit us to purchase the program to
replace the current program we are working on. I am the point person for
this project and would like to work with someone to compare/contrast what we
currently work from and help me determine sufficient data for the change.
From the work I have been doing with our trial version I do believe it will
benefit our firm to make the switch but would like to discuss detail
regarding current templates, etc. is there any live person i can discuss
this with?

Since you are already trying it out, does it suit your needs or do you find
you can do the same thing more efficiently in another software program?

Would suggest you look at PagePlus 10 as it has PDF and many other features
built in Publisher does not have.

PagePlus is the genuine low cost professional DTP program, that also does
CMYK PDF all built in.
If you are doing books, the Book feature in PagePlus 10 is just *AWESOME*.

What will you be using Publisher to create; output that will be seen
mostly on screen / printed on a desktop inkjet or will the final
publication be sent to a commercial printer. If its the former, then
use what you are most comfortable with. If its the latter then you need
to make sure that you can create output suitable for a commercial
printer. Publisher will allow you to specify colours as CMYK values or
as Pantone references. You can embed high resolution EPS or TIF
graphics with the clipping path intact. You can specify that you are
creating a CMYK document so that you can create a CMYK composite or
individual seperations. It comes with a level 3 postscript driver so
that you can create a high resolution postscript file as the output.
Most commercial printers will accept this. They can then lay out each
page of the postscript file under Quark or something like that before
sending it through their own printing system. If you want PDF's, then
download the free PrimoPDF.

Dominic
