Help with a Table in the footer

I have a number of old documents that have a table in the first page footer
section. The table is used to track changes to the document and has two rows
and a number of columns. A new column is added for each revision. How do I
reference the table in the footer section?

Assuming a regular footer (Not odd/even or first page footer):

Dim FooterTable As Table

Set FooterTable = ActiveDocument.Sections(1) _
.Footers(wdHeaderFooterPrimary).Range.Tables(1)
