I had a new OS put on my computer and a new version of
outlook...i'm trying to transfer my mail settings and
account info from the old files...anyone know if there's
a way to do an import? i can't seem to get it to
recognize there's a prior mail setting on the computer

Did you go to the import/export under the "file" menu? I assume you are using Outlook 2003
1.From there click import/export

2.Click "IMPORT INTERNET ACCOUNT SETTINGS

3. from there select the pop3 option and then continue to follow the prompts

Did you go back and see if your mail and mail settings are there in your old email program? Sometimes it is easier to copy the settings and put them back in the new one. Under the menu selection from above, there should be a selection to import your addresses and emails from your old program. Another way to get it done is to go to HELP ans then slect email and then select import and export. There you will find the step by step instructions

Good Luck

Locate the PST file you were using with the old Outlook and use File>Open in
Outlook to open it. DON'T use import.

I said "don't use import", but Ron's correct that you should use it for the
account settings. I was referring to the old messages, Calendar, etc.
However, it's almost as simple to just create a new profile and respecify
the account settings.
