I use the built in calendar wizard every month to make up a calendar for
distribution.

The default font is 36 point and Times New Roman. This only allows a few
letters in each box. I enter data in each box and have to change the size
to 20 points for each entry.

Is there some way to save the template for the wizard so that the default
size is 20 (and the font is Arial) when it is loaded?

Hi George

Yes, it's possible, but fiddly.

First, identify your User Templates folder. It's the folder identified at
Tools > Options > File Locations > User Templates.

Now, find the template. It will be at something like C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\Calendar Wizard.Wiz. Copy it to your
User Template folder and re-name it as George's Calendar.dot. Expect to get
a warning about the perils of changing the extension from .wiz to .dot.

Satisfy yourself that it works. Do File > New and choose George's
Calendar.dot. It should work just as it worked by default. Close the
document.

In Word, do File > Open, navigate to your User Templates folder and open
George's Calendar.dot. You'll basically see a blank screen.

Much of the formatting is controlled by styles stored in the template. Do
Format > Styles and identify the User-Defined styles. Modify them to suit
your needs. Don't change their names, or the Wizard won't be able to locate
them.

Most of what the Wizard does is to select AutoTexts that are saved in the
template. If you do Insert > AutoText > AutoText, and set Look In to your
template, you'll see all the AutoTexts. You can insert one, edit it, select
everything and re-save it as an AutoText back into the same file.

More on AutoTexts here:
Using AutoText
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/AutoText.htm

Don't delete any bookmarks or placeholder text you find in the AutoTexts:
the wizard will need that to know where to place the text.

Expect much trial and error to get it all working properly and make backups
frequently!

Hope this helps.
