Help with noise problem?

Hello,
Does anyone know why I would get a constant beeping from the speaker when
using Outlook.
(Win XP PRO with Pentium 2.5, Office 2000 installed)
Does not do this except in Outlook ( ie. not in the IE6. web browser) just
in Outlook.
