Help with text overlay on media file.

I have been trying to figure out how to put text on top of a flash, .avi, .wma. But everytime I put of the slide show the text goes away when the file begins to play. I've tried using gifs but the quility isn't that great. Please help.

Movies, including Flash objects, always play on top. The only work around
that I know of is to incorporate the text in the video/flash file, or
display it to the slide.
