Hey Brian, the card contest?

I like the idea of course. And agreed, it doesn't have to be holiday,
but it would be good to run the contest through the holidays and finish
up and pick the winner near Christmas. What do you think?

Well I can contribute to a prize. A BMW? Miniature of course. I understand Hot Wheels
had one once...
We need an impartial judge... How about Sarah or DavidA?

I have the prize taken care of now. I was thinking possibly posting the
cards on www.publishermvps.com and putting up a poll/voting option for
everyone to vote.

I don't mind judging (but Davey might have a hard time with anyone outside
Australia. Make that outside Western Australia. Actually scratch that, make
that outside of Perth.Nope, I sit corrected - outside of his /house/.)

Does that mean the competition is only open to residents of North America?
IIRC, there was a time when anyone was eligible. It's a shame because I have
something I'd love to submit (Jo knows what I'm talking about because she's
seen it)

Why can't MS cough up the few measly bucks it would cost to send the prize
overseas?! They're tighter than my sister's ex when it's his round! GRR!! It
was OK the first year! There are many contributors here who would love to
participate, I'm sure, but they can't because they're in the wrong sodding
country!

S'not fair! <*STAMPS FOOT*> I wanna play!!! I wanna WIN!! Muuuuumeeeee!!!
The nasty MS man says I can't win because I don't live in his country!! He's
being so *MEAN*!!

Actually Microsoft will no input, this would be sponsored by the Publisher guys...
Brian said he is working up the rules. If you win, Sarah, I will personally cough up
the money to ship whatever the prize may be...

Oh yes, David.....where o where has David been. As for judging, I would like
to possibly make this a general public and MVP judging, allowing the public
to go to the website and have their vote submitted.

As Mary said, MS is not sponsoring these contests. They can't for many legal
reasons. This is only sponsored by the MVP's. As for having the contest for
U.S. residents only, I chose that the first time around because I wasn't
sure how the shipping with *customs* would be. I will be looking at making
this available to everyone this time around.

I'm not mean.....just evil :) I don't see why you can't participate this
time. I will let you all know soon. Just make sure you are super nice to
anyone and everyone that posts to this newsgroup (yes, I will make David A
your exception :)

It has been quiet here lately. Almost like the calm before the storm.

It's like the Honda advert (don't know whether you have the same one in the
US - it's voiced by an American bloke anyway).

Which reminds me of a joke (which I'm going to have to get out of my system
now).

Ken was on a business trip to Japan and his hosts invited him out to play
golf. However, Ken had an embarassing problem - everytime he bent down to
place his ball he broke wind and the result sounded like 'Honda'. One of his
hosts said "No worry. Common ploblem. You go see my doctor" and hands him
his doctor's card.

So, the following day, Ken goes to see this doctor and explains the problem.
"Oh yes" said the doctor, "You have abcess".

"Are you sure, doc,?" asks Ken "Don't you want to examine me?"

"No need" says the doctor

Wait for it

You'll be glad you did

Hold on

"Yes" said the doctor "Abcess makes the fart go Honda".

See? Now wasn't that worth it? ;o)

'Sprobly only a rumor, Sarah, but I heard David rushed off in a
suicidal frenzy when he happened on a website that listed PagePlus as
no longer supported...
Blessed be, for sure...

his vile visage 'round here again! ;o)
