HFP 2002 Hit Counter Reset Error

D

David Levine

When I reset the Hit counter to a higher number after
republishing my website, FP ignores the number and either
resets to zero or continues counting from the
republishing but ignores my chose number. I reinstalled
the FP extensions on the Web Host server but no avail...
What am I missing? Thanks

Open your live server version of the site in FrontPage.
Reset the count, save the page and then check it in IE.
If no luck, open the private folder ( on the server version )
and find the file that ends in .cnt that relates to the page
in question. Open the file in Notepad and change the
stored count to the number you want, but do not change
the number of digits. save the file and then check your
count.

Also, when publishing, the server program will change your
index page to index.html or default.html so as to conform to
the servers default page requirements. Check on the server
and make sure there isn't an index.htm and an index.html.
If so, delete the one "not" being used, and rename your local
version to conform with the server version.
