hit counter not changing after each visit to web site

can anyone help with the problem that i'm having. after
republishing the hit counter with frontpage 2000 it is
still not changing the numbers. i would appreciate some
help. thanks.

Make sure your host has write permissions on the _private folder.

I'm not trying to tell you how to design your page, but hit counters are
really out of vogue. If you want data on visits it's much better to use web
reporting software that summarizes the server's logs. Most ISPs provide this
as a free service. If you are trying to impress visitors with how popular
your page is, the fact is that almost everyone knows how easy it is to fake
a hit counter and so does not take them seriously.
