Hit counter problems

I have inserted a hit counter in front page 2000, that does not seem to
be
working.

When I insert it and look at the page it stays on 1 and never
increments.

The other thing that is not working is re-setting the counter to a
number. It still displays 1.

Can anyone help me? Thanks

Oh, it's the hit counter that's not working, right?
Wrong! The hit counter works perfectly. Nobody is
visiting your crappy site. That's the problem.
