Forgive me for starting this thread again….even I had trouble finding my
original post.
This was my original question:
Outlook is configured to retrieve our family’s 4 Hotmail accounts.
Is there any simple way to prevent these accounts from delaying the INITIAL
opening of Outlook?
Many thanks in advance
This was the reply from Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook]

the accounts?†UNQUOTE
MY follow up: Thank you Diane. Yes they are completely disabled in “send and
receive†settings, at least as far as I can see.
I have two Groups, one for the 4 Hotmail a/cts, where everything is
unchecked, and one for 2 other e-mail a/cts, which are set for checking every
10 minutes. Don’t need regular checks on the Hotmail a/cts.. However, do wish
to retain the ability to check them all at once with one click on the Hotmail
group in “Toolsâ€.
The problem is with the INITIAL opening of Outlook. If I delete the Hotmail
Accounts, Outlook opens instantaneously. As soon as they are set up again, it
seems to take forever, especially with 4 Hotmail a/cts. Even if I completely
disable “scheduled send/receiveâ€, the INITIAL opening still takes an
eternity, if the Hotmail a/cts are not completely erased.
If it’s not possible to have different “opening rules†for the two groups,
is it possible to just delay the first send and receive of everything (on
INITIAL opening) for, say, a specified time?
Alternatively, a slightly less convenient solution would be to manually
re-enable the “scheduled send/receive†after the initial opening has
finished, as long as I can achieve the faster INITIAL opening.
Is it possible to configure any of these alternatives?
