How about a "DEACTIVATE" option..

Hi --

I think that Microsoft, for the next release of Office, should adopt
technology such as is offeredby ViaTech Technologies and is used by
some companies whose games I purchase over the internet. The idea is
that you have one license for a product and you activate that license
and that activation is stored on a server somewhere. If you wish to
re-install the software you must first de-activate it so that you "get
back" your license. You can then re-install the software and
reactivate it. This would be great for me, and I am sure there are
others who are in a similar situation as myself. I am a programmer /
developer and I use Office for word processing and e-mail, but I also
download and install a lot of test software on my machine.
Periodically I like to wipe my machine clean and re-install my core
programs and get back to work.

Since this technology already exsists and is used effectively (in my
experience) I think that something like this would benefit both
Microsoft and the end users.
