How can a successor task drive the finish date of its predecessor

....or identify the deadline by which the predecessor task must finish in
order for the successor task to finish on time, without manually changing any
dates. Constraint settings with Finish as Late as Possible push the entire
schedule out of a realistic range. Using MSProject 2003.

Hello mrivera,

A successor task can't drive the finish date of its predecessor, because the
successor is... the successor! (The predecessor is the task which drives the
other one, whatever are their relative positions on the timescale).
But you can identify the deadline by which the predecessor task must finish
in order for the successor task to finish on time : display a symbol bar in
the Gantt view, symbol which will displat the free slack:
Format / Bar Styles...
Create a new bar, for example with the last thin bar, from Finish to Free
Slack

Hope this helps,
