How can I change the default home page

T

Tony M

I have a site with over 200 pages and about 500 links returning from these
pages to the homepage...home.html

This page was frames and I have redone it with no frames. When the page was
created it was index.html (the default home page)

My problem is all my 500 links are pointing to home.html Do I have to
rename them all to index.html or is there a way
to have the homepage links open in index.html

Any help please

So the index.hml and home.html are identical -
just publish home.html - if that's where all your current links are
directed to,
it'll make little difference if they go to "home" or "index" since
they are identical.
the quick and simple/easier solution.

I thought of that but my client changes his home page every week so I will
have to keep doing SaveAs to duplicate the page

Stefan's advice seems simple. its all over and done with in one hit and I
can delete home.html

Thanks anyway for the help

However what is the default home page file name set on the server? If it is home.html, then if you
change it people will not fine it when they type http://www.thedomainname.com in their browser or
come from a search engine link.

I have also created another problem. when I open FP 2003 and try to open a
page I get this message.

server error: the url "c:\My Web Sites" is not contained within a windows
SharePoint Services Site.

and nothing opens. How can I fix this.
