How can I change the mailbox ID/name

Some of our users have their login ID displayed as their
mailbox names in Outlook 2003 client. We'd like to change
it to our standard name display "LastName, FirstName"
format.

Would you know this is possible?

The display name shown for the mailbox should be the same as the display
name set in Active Directory.

That was we understood. But it is not working for us.
That's why we are trying to manually change it.
