I have the CDs and was told publisher comes with the MS Office
XP pro but I have no idea how to install this feature.

IF that product comes with Office Pro (I do not think you
were given correct information) you put the CD in the drive
and select CUSTOM INSTALL from the option list, then select
any component you want from the list of programs

But, as I said, I think MS Publisher is not on that CD

Publisher 2002 is included with Office XP Professional Special Edition,
but not with Office XP Professional. Which version do you have?

To add to the previous replies,

MS Office XP Plus Professional Edition was an OEM
(intended for sale preinstalled on new PCs). Publisher
would be on a separate disk.

The Special Edition was an early promotional package
when Office 2003 first came out for upgraders.
