How can i not print a background image?

How can i make a background image (for example something like a watermark)
visible but not printable in word? To give an idea what I'm trying to do is
place the images/layout of our letter headed paper in the background of a
word doc (so that it can be used as a visual aid for design/layout of the
text) but not have it print out.
