How can I open the powerpoint application from website

I want all users on my website to automatically open the powerpoint
application when they click on a link for a powerpoint and not to have the
presentation open in the web browser. Is this possible and how can I do it?

If it's an intranet and you can control the browser settings on the users'
computers, have a look here:

Control how the browser opens PowerPoint files

Otherwise, no. It's a user preference that you can't control from the site.
If it's really important that they open it in PPT rather than within the
browser, you may have to give them instructions to download the file rather
than clicking it or give it to them in a ZIP file.
