How Can I Reduce Size of pst Files?

I have 2 Gigs of *.pst files in Outlook 2002. I have deleted at least half
of the messages, but the file sizes are unchanged. I have used archive, and
ran it all night. The file sizes went down by 50 meg. This process is
terribly slow. How can it be sped up?

Right-click on the root folder of the PST, Select Properties .... Advanced |
Compact now.

Your suggestion worked. I deleted all messages in archive.pst. Its size
was 300,000 KB. I compacted the file, and the file size became 2665 KB.

Thanks,
