How can I unlock my documents, including new documents?

I can't use my old documents or eddit them. Every time I try I get a message
saying that the document is locked. Even if I open a blank new document I
can't start typing because it says that it is locked. Is there a special
setting that I can change of microsoft office in order to be able to access
my documents? Please help I need to finish a paper for school.

What exactly is the error message you are getting, and what version of Word
are you using?

Are you using a Trial or "borrowed" version of Office?

Either your trial period has expired (you would have been warned),
or you haven't activated the software (again, you would have been warned).
