The other way you could have found the sound source is to right click on the
text box select Custom Animation | Effect Options and the sound associated
will be displayed. If it is not one of the built in sounds that come with
PowerPoint, Applause, camera, arrow etc then do a search for the file name
that is provided. If it is a presentation that you received from somewhere
else, then the publish to web page is the way to get a copy of the file for
use in future presentations.
If you just want to change the sound, then the Custom Animation route is the
way to go.

|I have figured this one out. PP 2003, BTW. It seems that when a sound
file
| is embedded the "action settings", "play sound" goes away when one checks
the
| settings on the text box.
|
| However, if one copys the text box to a new blank presenation, the action
| settings do show up with the original name of the file used.
|
| By saving the original presentation as a web file, I was able to extract
the
| wav files. Then, by creating a new presentation and copying over the text
| buttons (or making new ones), I was able to change the sounds associated
with
| the text box(es). Once I saved my new file, it was the same as the old...
no
| "action settings" to the wav file.
|
| Cheers.
