How do a get the document imager initialize scanner?

I'm receiving the following message when I attempt to scan a document with
Microsoft Office Document Scanning:
"Unable to initialize scanner. Check scanner connection and scanner
software." My scanner is a HP Office Jet G85 - printer, scanner, fax, etc.
I have no problem with it printing, only scanning. So I know that the
connections are ok. Now what do I do?
