Document scanning

I am unable to scan documents using the Word 2007 document scanning software.
I receive the following message: "The scan failed because of a scanner
hardware error. Feeder may be jammed. Please correct the error and scan
again".

I have downloaded the correct printer driver for the Vista operating system
and I am able to make standalone copies from scanned documents, therefore the
all-in-one printer/scanner is not the problem.

Can anyone help?

It says hardware failure so I would start with the scanner manufacturer.

While you likely have a hardware problem, you may want to take a few minutes
to verify the Office 2007 scanner selection. Open Microsoft 2007 Office
Tools, Microsoft Office Document Scanning and click on the Scanner button.
Verify that you have your scanner selected. If you have two listings for you
scanner {with and without TWAIN as I have}, try selecting each one.

Don
