How do I add a custom outline numbering sequence?

I need to add custom numbering for 3 series - a 7000 series, an 8000 series,
and a 9000 series These 3 summary tasks will appear on all of our projects,
and any sub-task I want to be 7001, 7002, 7003, etc. Or 7000.001, 7000.002,
either way is fine with me. Thank you!

Hi Dan,

Insert the WBS field into a table. Choose Project > WBS > Define code.

Set the first level to:
Sequence: Characters (unordered)
Length: Any
Separator: select

Set Level 2 to:
Sequence: Numbers (ordered)
Length: Any
Separator: select

Add additional levels using the Numbers (ordered) as needed.

This will allow you to type to 7000, 8000, 9000 at the summary task
level. Project will generate the subtask WBS as 7000.1, 7000.1.1, etc.

You can then copy the WBS field to other projects using the Organizer to
copy the WBS field or define the WBS field in a project file and save
the file as a template.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
