How do I add an Auto shape on top of an embedded video

When I run a video in a presentation, I would like to time an autoshape (ie:
circle) to automatically appear over the video to highlight some part of it
as it plays. Is this possible, and if so, how.

Video clip will always be on top.

Sadly, you cannot place an object or text over a video using capabilities
native to PowerPoint.

Unfortunately, in PowerPoint, videos always play on top of everything else.
